In this episode of Sofia Unfiltered, Riley talks to Tris Thorp, Master Practitioner & Trainer in NLP, Hypnosis, Mental & Emotional Release®, Shadow Integration Coach, Vedic Master Educator: Ayurveda, Meditation, Yoga, and Reiki Master

From Struggle to Transformation at the Chopra Center

Tris, initially grappling with feelings of not belonging and repeated struggles, found herself on the doorstep of the Chopra Center, where her transformation began unexpectedly. Through daily meditation and introspection, she discovered the profound impact of childhood trauma on her behaviors and thought patterns, initiating a lifelong healing journey. Tris emphasizes that healing is a continuous process, with each layer of understanding revealing new depths to explore and integrate, ultimately guiding individuals toward authenticity and joy.

Shadow work: What is it?

Shadow work entails exploring the unconscious elements of oneself, such as suppressed emotions, fears, and desires, to integrate them consciously. By acknowledging and confronting these hidden aspects of the psyche, individuals can achieve greater self-awareness, healing, and personal growth.

Sofia Health connects you to traditional, integrative, nutritional, holistic, and spiritual healing professionals to help you personalize your healing journey.

Acknowledging Childhood Trauma and Finding Healing

Tris highlighted the significance of recognizing and addressing childhood trauma, emphasizing that trauma isn't limited to big events but can also stem from seemingly ordinary experiences like parental divorce.

Reflecting on her transformative experience at the Chopra Center, Tris emphasized the power of meditation, yoga, and introspection in slowing down, being present, and reconnecting with one's true self. She described the Center as a supportive environment where individuals engaged in various practices of personal growth, fostering a sense of unconditional love and acceptance. Tris also discussed her role as a shadow coach, explaining how she helps individuals uncover and embrace hidden aspects of themselves that were suppressed due to societal conditioning or childhood experiences, enabling them to step into their true authenticity and find fulfillment.

The Lifelong Effects of Childhood Wounds

Childhood wounds, such as feeling unworthy or unloved, can lead individuals to develop people-pleasing behaviors as a means of seeking validation and acceptance. She emphasized that these patterns of behavior often persist into adulthood, manifesting as personas adapted to different social settings and relationships. Tris highlighted the importance of recognizing and realigning these personas with one's true self to cultivate authentic connections and fulfillment in life, stressing that embracing one's genuine personality and uniqueness fosters genuine acceptance and connection with others.

Shadow Work and Personas

Tris emphasized that childhood wounds often lead individuals to develop personas and people-pleasing behaviors as a means of seeking validation and acceptance. Through her approach to shadow work, Tris guides clients to recognize and realign these personas with their true selves, facilitating deep healing and integration of past wounds. She highlighted the importance of addressing subconscious programming through reprogramming thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to create lasting change in one's personal reality.

Integrating Shadow Work and NLP

Tris Thorp and Riley discussed the intricate process of personal growth and healing, focusing on shadow work and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Tris explained how shadow work involves uncovering and reintegrating suppressed aspects of oneself, both negative and positive, to achieve authenticity and wholeness. She emphasized that shadow work is complemented by NLP, which targets subconscious beliefs and behaviors, allowing individuals to reprogram limiting beliefs and emotions. Tris highlighted the importance of consistency and commitment in implementing these practices, noting that while instant changes are possible with NLP, lasting transformation requires sustained effort and aligned action over time.
